A nurse who stole 26 million equipment was arrested

The Shinyanga Regional Police Force is holding two people, including a nurse at the Shinyanga Regional Referral Hospital, on suspicion of theft of medical equipment from the regional hospital worth shs. 26 million.

Shinyanga Regional Police Commander ACP, Debora Magiligimba has named the arrested suspects as Madaraka Joseph (32) a resident of Mageuzi in Ngokolo ward of Shinyanga Municipality who is also a nurse at the Shinyanga Regional Referral Hospital.

The other suspect arrested is Suka Charles (42) a resident of Buzuka Street in Shinyanga Municipality where he also owns a dispensary located in Kahama district in Shinyanga region.

Elaborating further, Commander Magiligimba said that on October 13, this year at 12.00 pm there was a theft of two patients' scanning machines in the operating room type EDAN 1MB and DATA SCOP 1 worth 26 million shillings
.

Commander Magiligimba said that after the robbery, the Police Force launched an investigation where it was discovered that the suspect Madaraka Joseph who is an attendant in the operating room at the Regional Hospital was the one who stole the medical equipment.

"We found out that after stealing the equipment he went to sell it to Suka Charles for an agreement of 4,000,000 shillings and he was introduced to the amount of 2,000,000 shillings."

He said police also seized other equipment used, including Patient monitor S / N 301237 - M16 CO9160006-01, Patient monitor S / N PG 63700-B2, BP Machine Accessories (5), Cable wires Accessories (7), Medical molecular sieve, Oxygen Concentrator (1) Serial no. 598 and Oxygen Concentrator Intesty S / N 601-1.

Commander Magiligimba said both suspects are expected to appear in court after the investigation is completed where he has called on public servants to stop the practice of theft of public property caused by a desire for short-term success.
