Rakai District Police in Uganda are investigating the death of a 16-year-old student who died after consuming pesticides after allegedly impregnating a 15-year-old girl.
A relative of the deceased, said his brother had taken a bottle of Paraquat spray, which he had bought for pesticides in his garden. He took the drug and was later taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead five days later.
The girl's parents went to the boy's home saying Kenned had impregnated their daughter and wanted to marry her or they would take her to court. But they also spent 100,000 Ugandan shillings as monthly care for their pregnant daughter.
Kennedy refused to pay the fine as he denied having an affair with the girl, saying it was possible the girl had other boyfriends and could not marry him as he was still a young man.
Kennedy's father has said his son aspired to be an engineer and it is sad that he died before he could fulfill his dream.
